Okay, so after a general lack of interest in my regular, non-commercial commissions (which may be the economy, but who knows), I've been thinking about how to change things. After some thinking, I was typically never really proud of the things that I did for people as they were too... profiley and there just wasn't enough artistic thought put into it. It's just not fair to people who want to commission me to get things that I consider sub-par for me.

I looked at a few things other artists were doing with their commissions and some lump everything together in one easy price so I was thinking I should do the same, but I was wondering what a fair price would be for these works. I was thinking $40-60 and maybe an extra character for $15-20, but I really need some input.

The type of thing you'd get:
End of Fate+Start of Miracles by Tetiel Snowflakes and Silver Hair by Tetiel Red Riding Hood by Tetiel
Gardenia by Tetiel Satin by Tetiel I'm so sorry, Kouta by Tetiel
Sunset Roses by Tetiel Heart on My Sleeve by Tetiel Sailor Neptune by Tetiel
Goodbye Ms. Rat by Tetiel Snow by Tetiel Waiting for Spring by Tetiel
A lot of these works are older, but obviously you would get the quality of my newer works. These still remain to be the works I am the most proud of and I want to be able to do that type of work for other people, too without worrying if they paid for a background or not.

What you would get:
A detailed background suiting the character
Anywhere from a full body to 2/3 body determined completely by composition of the overall piece
If you specifically need a full body for reference purposes, I will do my best to accommodate that
I will design the outfit or add details to an existing outfit, if you wish.
I will work from a description which may be extremely vague if needed, but I would prefer to know as much about their personality as possible
Props/animals free of charge

A sketch is always provided before payment in order to ensure that you're happy with how the final product is going. Regular commissions would be still available and still may be the best thing for people in some cases. Obviously, if you wanted a chibi with a background, I wouldn't charge the same price, so some things may be negotiable xD But please do let me know what you think, even if you would probably never commission me for whatever reason.

--------------

On a side note, does anyone else need to change their music genre depending on the piece they're working on currently? In the past month, I've gone from alternative rock to classic rock to indie/folk music to classical to bluegrass to jazz... I can't make up my mind on anything lately, it seems. Thankfully I have Jango, though I find myself making a new station at least once a week. It's frustrating as I can't seem to draw anything until I find the right genre. The other day I had to listen to nothing but Nickel Creek and Chris Thile, but the next day I was listening to nothing but The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Once I find it what I need, I tend to work at rocket speed for hours on end barely getting up to eat, drink, or use the bathroom ^^; Still, though, why must the artistic side of my brain be so picky?

As a poor person without a job, the prices are just way out of my range I'd have to say. ^^; For dA, where a lot of us are younger, paying 60 dollars for a picture is just too steep, unfortunately. Quality or not. :( 25~50 may be a better range, with the high end 50 (detailed costumes and backgrounds, with more difficult shading styles and poses/angles or something?) for those who can afford it and 25 (just more basic overall) for the poorer 20 and under crowd.

I don't have a lot of experience with commissions, though, so take my input with a grain of salt, I suppose.
